Nonprofit Every Day Action Reveals Celebrity Host and Award Recipient for 3rd Annual Recycle-ball Celebrity Gala

The star-studded gala aims to fund critical hunger relief efforts in the greater Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles, Calif., April 22, 2025 –  Every Day Action (EDA), a nonprofit that aims to eliminate food waste and fight hunger by redistributing unserved meals from film and TV sets to unhoused communities across Los Angeles, has revealed its star-studded lineup for the 3rd Annual Recycle-ball Celebrity Gala.

Taking place May 17, 2025, at Intercrew LA, the event will feature a night of old Hollywood glamour—reimagined with a sustainable twist. Celebrity guests, including Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars, Founding Board Member), Barrett Foa (NCIS: Los Angeles, VP and Founding Board Member), Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Daniela Ruah (NCIS: Los Angeles), and others, will be in attendance.

Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Bloom of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will host the evening. "Every Day Action offers some of the most practical solutions that I've seen for how to reduce waste on film sets,” said Bloom. “I'm so inspired by EDA's tireless, boots-on-the-ground work to actually make a tangible difference."

Every Day Action’s Heart of Humanity Award will be presented by Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated Actor, Producer, Director, and Writer Noah Wyle to R. Scott Gemmill, the Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and Showrunner of the hit Max drama The Pitt, and founding supporter of EDA. This award honors an individual or organization’s enduring commitment to humanitarian causes and their collaborative efforts to make a positive difference in the world. Supporting the organization since its inception, Gemmill not only provided the initial opportunity for EDA’s food recovery program to take root on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles but also continues his impactful generosity through consistent annual donations when support is most vital.

The event’s purpose-driven theme, the Recycle-ball, invites attendees to embrace sustainable fashion by wearing recycled, thrifted, borrowed, or repurposed attire, ensuring no new items are purchased for the evening. In keeping with this ethos, the event will not serve red meat, and all waste will be composted or recycled through a partnership with Ecoset.

Sponsored by supporters such as Waymo, Intercrew LA, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, AMC Networks, LA Care, and more, ticket purchases directly support Every Day Action’s mission, funding both its daily operations and its Film Industry Driver Program. The organization also proudly collaborates with World Centric, which donates 100% biodegradable packaging year-round, ensuring that rescued food stays out of landfills and in the hands of those who need it most.

“We’ve built a model that works—reallocating up to 5,000 meals a week from productions, offices, and events to people who need them most,” said EDA’s Co-founder and CEO Hillary Cohen. “But the demand is outpacing our resources. We need more funding and full-time support to go beyond our current limit of 15 pickups a day.  This way, we'll be able to serve even more food-insecure communities across Los Angeles. The food is there. The need is there. We just need the support to keep going—and growing.”

Tickets for the Recycle-ball are still available for purchase online at youreverydayaction.org/2025gala. The Recycle-ball will kick off at 6 p.m. on May 17 at Intercrew LA, located at 3330 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

About Every Day Action

Every Day Action safely, swiftly, and legally rescues the leftover gourmet catered meals from TV/film sets, select grocery stores, corporate events, food festivals, and more, and delivers them to those in need: the local unhoused and under-resourced communities of Los Angeles struggling with food insecurity. Created and founded by two veteran Assistant Directors with the Directors Guild of America, Every Day Action is fast becoming the nonprofit film industry standard for reducing food waste on sets while helping eradicate hunger in L.A. Every Day Action picks up surplus food from each production the nonprofit works with and redistributes an average of 60,000 meals annually to nearby local communities throughout Los Angeles County.
