Every Day Action’s Recycle-ball Celebrity Gala Brings in Over $100K to Fuel Fight Against Food Insecurity

The sold-out event successfully united community leaders and celebrities to support Every Day Action’s critical food rescue and hunger relief efforts.

Los Angeles, Calif., June 3, 2025Every Day Action (EDA), a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating food waste and fighting hunger by redistributing unserved meals from film and TV sets to unhoused communities, celebrated a successful sold-out 3rd Annual Recycle-ball Celebrity Gala on May 17, 2025, at Intercrew LA.

The glamorous evening–hosted by Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Bloom and joined on stage by Golden Globe-nominated actor, producer, director, and writer Noah Wyle– welcomed a constellation of celebrity guests including Troian Bellisario, Barrett Foa, Patrick J. Adams, Siena Goines, Katie Lowes, Adam Shapiro, and Daniela Ruah. Together, attendees raised over $100,000 to support EDA’s ongoing hunger relief efforts throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us to make this event a tremendous success,” said EDA Co-founder and CEO Hillary Cohen. “These funds will directly help us maintain our food rescue programs, helping us reach more communities facing food insecurity and reduce waste on film and television sets.”

"What I love about this organization is they’re actually doing something,” reflected Bloom on stage. “...the truth is, in this ridiculously wealthy city, people are going hungry…and the safety nets are only shrinking…Because of your support tonight, Every Day Action will be able to rescue even more perfectly good food from going to waste and get it to the tables of our neighbors who are facing hunger right here in Los Angeles. You haven't just attended a gala; you've become an active part of the solution.”

The Recycle-ball’s purpose-driven theme encouraged attendees to embrace sustainable fashion by wearing recycled, thrifted, borrowed, or repurposed attire, in alignment with Every Day Action’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The event also minimized its carbon footprint by avoiding red meat service and ensuring all waste was composted or recycled, in partnership with Ecoset.

Highlighting the night was the presentation of Every Day Action’s Heart of Humanity Award by Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor Noah Wyle to R. Scott Gemmill, Emmy-nominated executive producer and showrunner of the hit Max drama The Pitt. Gemmill was honored for his enduring support of EDA’s mission, including providing the initial opportunity for the nonprofit’s food recovery program on NCIS: Los Angeles, and his ongoing generosity.

“I’m deeply humbled to receive the Heart of Humanity Award,” said R. Scott Gemmill. “Supporting Every Day Action’s mission has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. The impact they have on both reducing waste and feeding people in need is a powerful reminder of how small actions can lead to big change.”

Major sponsors including Waymo, Intercrew LA, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, AMC Networks, The Foa Family, and LA Care helped make the event possible, ensuring that ticket sales and donations directly fueled Every Day Action’s vital programs, including their Film Industry Driver Program and daily food pickups.

Every Day Action continues to lead the fight against food waste and hunger in Los Angeles by reallocating thousands of meals each week to those in need. Those interested in supporting Every Day Action or getting involved can visit youreverydayaction.org.
