We are honored to welcome acclaimed actor and comedian Wendi McLendon-Covey as the host of this year’s Avant-Garden Recycle-Ball. Known for her standout roles in The Goldbergs, Bridesmaids, and numerous film and television comedies, Wendi brings her signature humor, warmth, and energy to an evening dedicated to community and impact. We’re thrilled to have her help guide a night celebrating the work of Every Day Action and the collective effort to reduce food waste and support our neighbors across Los Angeles.

Nicole Parker was a series regular and contributing writer on the sketch show MadTV for six years. She made her Broadway debut alongside Martin Short in Martin Short : Fame Becomes Me. She also played Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway and the First National Tour. Nicole appeared as Celine Dion in the Off-Broadway hit Titanique, and was most recently seen as Joan Rivers in the play Joan produced by Melissa Rivers. TV and film appearances include "Key and Peele," "Bajillion Dollar Properties, Jordan Peele's "Us," and "Misty Green," a film written and directed by Chris Rock which comes out in May. She co-hosts an improvised comedy podcast with Paul F. Tompkins called "The Neighborhood Listen."

The Avant-Garden Recycle-Ball is a night dedicated to celebrating sustainable action. We invite you to arrive in Hollywood Glamour that honors the Earth and the Every Day Action mission. The challenge is to wear "nothing new." Raid your own closet, borrow from a friend, rent a reusable garment, or discover a hidden gem at a local thrift shop. Feeling inspired? We invite you to lean into our "Avant-Garden" theme by accessorizing with nature-inspired elements or crafting a bold, recycled masterpiece that proves high-fashion can be both green and glamorous.

Every Day Action fights hunger and reduces waste.We work 24/7 to rescue surplus gourmet food across Los Angeles and beyond and deliver it to communities in need. In 2025 alone, we diverted over 140,000 pounds of food from landfills, transforming waste into 85,000 life-sustaining meals. Now in our fifth year of operation, we have expanded our reach beyond film and TV sets to a growing network of select grocery stores, restaurants, events, festivals, and more.
We deliver these nutritious meals and products specifically to a grassroots network of over 45 beneficiary organizations, including low-income housing, veterans' and youth programs, women’s shelters, community fridges, the unhoused, and more. By bringing food directly to these marginalized communities, we reduce their procurement costs allowing them to redirect limited funding back into their core services. Our focus is on the most vulnerable, ensuring that high-quality nutrition reaches the people and places that need it most.
Film Industry Driver Program
Every Day Action's mission is powered by our Film Industry Driver Program, a unique model that utilizes 1099 contractors across all departments of the entertainment industry. By hiring film crew members during production lulls and in times of need, we provide vital supplemental income to our filmindustry family while leveraging their professional logistical expertise. We are also supported by a large network of volunteers who donate 100% of their time to our food saving mission.
The Food Industry Support Hub
This past year, we also launched F.I.S.H. (The Food Insecurity Shared Hub), a dedicated warehouse that serves as a collaborative space for five local nonprofits, scaling our collective community impact. This new location has improved (consider: upleveled) will soon change the way Every Day Action's operates operations by allowing and will allow for us to save significantly more food each week.
